Equipment Technician- Regional Position for the greater Philly/NJ area.
Summary & Reports to: Reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager, The Edge Fitness Club's Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the gym equipment in multiple locations. He or she will be in the clubs on a daily basis to ensure that our equipment is running so our members are enjoying their experience. To hold this position, you must be detail oriented and possess a sense of urgency. Your ability to respond quickly, roll up your sleeves and get the job done will dictate your success.
Duties & Responsibilities/Essential functions:
- Ensure all equipment on the fitness floor is operating safety and properly by conducting routine maintenance checks.
- Performs repairs to facilities and equipment in the clubs as needed.
- Track all equipment maintenance and repair through the maintenance tracking system (Fitness EMS).
- Orders parts & supplies as necessary.
- Refurbish fitness equipment.
- Follows safety procedures while working on equipment.
- Assist with installation of new equipment during replacement projects.
- Conduct daily walk through in the club to assess the conditions of the facility and equipment.
- Help coach and teach the club staff on optimal conditions that will help keep repairs down.
- Attend weekly maintenance meetings with the Facilities department.
- Assists the department head with the design and implementation of maintenance schedules.
- Assists the department head with the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Approves invoices for payment.
- Assist the department head by tracking all M&R expenses to help maintain the budget.
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
- Basic understanding of mechanics and electronics.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or a trade or technical degree is preferred.
- Experience working with repairing and maintaining cardiovascular & health club equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch. The employee may frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This job operates in a fast-paced health club environment. This role frequently works with health club equipment, including moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The employee will be required to travel throughout the day to different clubs.
Position type and expected hours of work:
This is a full time, 40 hour per week position with occasional overtime as the business requires. Days and hours are Monday through Friday (40 hours) with occasional evening and weekend work.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibility.
