Overview

The Head Coach will manage the swim team and assistant coaches to include:

• Set daily practice sessions that maximize pool resources and swimmer development
• Determine all individual and relay events for athletes at swim meets; or review those selected by assistant coaching staff.
• Establishes an environment that fosters positive team attitudes, encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Have prompt attendance at all scheduled workouts and swim meets.
• Administer and enforce team policies and procedures with all team participants and coaching staff.
• Set daily practice sessions that maximize pool resources and swimmer development.
• Determine all individual and relay events for athletes at swim meets; or review those selected by assistant coaching staff.
• Help with setup and break down of swim meets and practices
• Maintain daily attendance records for all training groups.
• Ensure program quality is consistent with the values and expectations of WTS
• Respond to queries regarding the team from parents
• Work in conjunction with parent volunteers to organize and run meets
• Complete meet reports and submit them to the Aquatics Director
• Establishes an environment that fosters positive team attitudes, encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
• Attend Summer Swim Team Committee Meetings as requested by committee members
• Advise committee regarding long term growth and team needs.
• Other responsibilities as designated by the Aquatics Director
• Inform the Director of any team needs in regards to program quality and functionality
• Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• USA Swim Coach Certification preferred
• At least 1 year experience as a head coach
• Valid CPR/AED, First-Aid certification
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Able to lift 45lbs
• Able to sit or stand for entire shift
• Able to work independently
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Available for all practices and meets for the entire season (May 25-August 9)
• Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred
• Normal work hours: varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays
