We are looking for an experienced Group Exercise Coordinator to support the wellness/fitness department at YMCA Anthony Bowen located at 1325 W Street, NW Washington, DC. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruits, auditions, trains, and evaluates group exercise instructors
Develops and controls the budget for group exercise
Develops and maintain group exercise schedule
Schedules programs and monitors enrollment numbers to ensure proper ratios and that minimum levels of participants are met
Maintains proper records including instructor’s certification requirements, expiration dates, skill evaluations and schedules or provides opportunities and information for instructors to attend required workshops and training
Reviews and submits all payroll for instructors
Ensures that substitutes are found for classes or personally conducts classes
High school diploma or GED; Bachelors Degree in PE/Exercise Physiology or related field strongly preferred
Must be 18 years or older
Minimum three years teaching experience
Must display an outgoing personality, enabling him/her to relate well to participants
Demonstrated interest in working with individuals as well as groups of people
Public speaking ability
Nationally recognized group exercise certification
In addition to the nationally recognized group exercise certification, specialty certifications like Yoga Alliance, CrossFit, Zumba,Pilates/Pilates Reformer, Martial Arts,Spin/Indoor Cycle,Les Mills, Barre are a plus but not required
Able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed and teach at various times during the day
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands or arms, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
