Job Description
Arch Amenities Group, the world's leading spa, fitness and leisure firm, is seeking a Personal Training Supervisor at the Wilfred R Cameron Wellness Center in Washington, Pa.

This person is responsible for the supervision of the personal training team, providing leadership and support for daily operations and programming with a focus on member experience. Responsible for meeting revenue goals, member intake and integration, service, program variety/participation, and expense management, controlling expenses to meet planned operating profits, assisting in recruiting, hiring, and training all personal trainers in accordance with established costs, procedures, and staffing needs; and providing leadership and opportunities for overall program growth and individual skill enhancement.

  • Ensures the "Arch Amenities Group Experience" for members and guests by maintaining the standards set in Arch Amenities Group Basics to Excellence (BTE), Arch Amenities Group Mission Statement/Values; Standards and Expectations, and Arch Amenities Group Brand Standards.
  • Adheres to policies of the facility and Arch Amenities Group.
  • Supervise Personal Trainers
  • Oversee all aspects of daily operations, planning and staffing for personal training and programming.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and evaluate all assigned personal training team members.
  • Ensure the new member integration process, including assessment and testing.
  • Weekly scheduled clients 20 hours a week
  • Teach a minimum of 1 weekly group exercise class.
  • In cooperation with Fitness Director, develop effective member fitness programs, workshops and events
  • In cooperation with Fitness Director, develop and maintain monthly plan for achieving revenue goals with accountability for all department members.
  • Consistently maintain expense control measures for the department, with careful attention to scheduling, payroll, and personal training commissions.
  • Submit bi-monthly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assemble and authorize payroll documents with back up for programs and personal training.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track trending and needs.
  • Ensure that fitness staff consistently meet the established minimum criteria, performance standards and expectations.
  • Provide leadership, support, motivation, and correction for fitness, program, and personal training staffs, with cross training for all departments as necessary.
  • Participate in the M.O.D. program.
  • Enforce departmental policies through effective Center communications system.
  • Communicate with manager proactively on all matters relative to Center operations, staff and members.
  • Resolve staff and/or member issues using effective customer service and leadership skills.
  • Maintain a professional attire and demeanor at all times.
  • Stay current on industry trends.
  • Participate in Center and community events as needed
  • Recognizes and reports signs of distress in class participants and follows the emergency plan of action.
  • Ensures the staff is fully knowledgeable on the use and benefits of services, products, programs, and activities by conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops
  • Assesses all department employees' progress continually; coaches employees with positive reinforcement, and disciplines, when necessary, fairly and consistently; participates in annual performance evaluations, and, when necessary, assists in the termination process.
  • Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback through the use of comment cards and other customer care techniques. Supervises and follows up on guest requests and comments within 24 hours.

  • College degree required in Exercise Science, Physical Education or related field.
  • Current certification from a nationally recognized agency, including ACSM, AFAA, NASM, ACE, NSPA, NSCA preferred.
  • Minimum 3 year experience in a fitness center environment required in personal training
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current CPR, AED and First Aid training.
  • Experience working with clinical and chronic conditions.
  • Experience working with research protocols.
  • Strong problem solving and customer service background.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), E-mail, Internet
  • Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance.

  • Normal work hours: Varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move light objects.
  • This position required the ability to balance, stoop, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, and lift.
