Job Summary

About The Risher Companies:

The Risher Companies is partially made up of Risher Fitness Management (RFM) which offers full-service management solutions for their gyms, from start-up and staffing to managing day to day aspects. Risher Lifestyle Management (RLM) offers the unique service of a Lifestyle Director with the goal to create a vibrant residential community through programming, activities, and community engagement.


Operations Specialist Position Overview:

The Operations Specialist will assist the Operations Director in daily functions primarily supporting Risher Fitness Management (RFM) but also assisting Risher Lifestyle Management (RLM) in a smaller role. This position will work directly with the Risher Executive Team and the main objective will be to ensure the goals and objectives of The Risher Companies, RFM and RLM, are achieved. The Operation Specialist will be based in the Greater Houston Area with day-to-day operations between our various RFM and RLM sites, including our corporate offices.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Risher Executive Team in recruiting, interviews and training at the Director level
  • Assists in handling discipline and termination of RFM employees, working side by side with Directors, in accordance with company policy
  • Assists RFM Directors coaching and conducting employee performance reviews
  • Support RLM Directors with day of event operations, which could include some evenings and weekends


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works with and supports the Operations Director daily to ensure all facilities and staff are performing to their highest standards
  • Oversees direct reports within RFM and helps with goal setting and daily support for these sites
  • Assists in innovation of fitness programming and administrative management
  • Develop and maintain team goals and initiatives
  • Maintain positive relationships and communication with Employees
  • Source innovative ideas from the site team organization, networking resources, improve profitability
  • Assist in staff training and development for assigned Directors
  • Ensure proper processes and procedures are in place to mitigate risk and maximize effectiveness
  • Participate with Executive Management Team to assess and integrate new facilities when required
  • Provide oversight to projects and programs, as assigned
  • Provide expert opinion and analysis to Executive Management on a consistent basis
  • Respond to assigned Fitness Center emergencies and act in supporting role as required
  • Fill in as a staff member in the event of staff absences
  • Mentoring and identification of future leaders in the organization
  • Develop expansion, and strategic planning for the region as required
  • 60-75% - Estimated travel between RFM and RLM sites within the Greater Houston area


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Fitness operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to commit 70% of work hours to traveling between RFM and RLM sites within the Greater Houston area
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet company needs, may include occasional nights and weekends


Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree, or related field experience preferred

Exceptional work experience in leadership and management

Five Years of related experience required


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to travel/drive to multiple facilities in same day
Must be able to flex schedule
