Job Summary:
The Director of Racquet Sports is a full time position that is responsible for the overall management and development of the racquet sports program, including staffing, coaching, facility maintenance, and player development. They work to create a positive and inclusive environment that promotes the sports of tennis and pickleball and helps players of all levels achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development:
- Plan and develop a comprehensive racquet sports program that caters to different skill levels and age groups.
- Organize and schedule lessons, clinics, tournaments, league play and events.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote racquet sports and attract new participants.
Coaching and Instruction:
- Provide coaching and instruction to players of all ages and skill levels.
- Develop and execute training programs to help players improve their skills.
- Mentor and oversee other tennis and pickleball pros and staff.
Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of tennis and pickleball courts and related facilities and communicate maintenance needs to the property management association.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities are in good condition and safe for use.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, hire, and manage tennis pros and support staff.
- Conduct staff training, performance evaluations, and create work schedules.
Budget and Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the racquet sports program budget, including revenue generation and cost control.
- Monitor expenses, allocate resources, and make recommendations for improvements.
Community Engagement:
- Foster a positive and inclusive community by organizing events, leagues, social activities and general oversight of court reservations.
- Build and maintain relationships with players, parents and residents.
- Provide impeccable customer service to all residents utilizing the racquet sports amenities.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant racquet sports governing bodies and safety standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and policies.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop marketing strategies to increase program participation and revenue.
- Use various marketing channels to promote the racquet sports program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree
- Professional coaching certifications, such as from the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).
- Proven experience as a tennis coach with a strong understanding of coaching techniques.
- Leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a team of coaches and staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of tennis equipment, court maintenance, and facility management.
- Understanding of budgeting and financial management.
- Experience in customer service and/or the hospitality industry.
