The Gannon University Recreation and Wellness Center is a two hundred and fifty thousand square foot building that serves approximately twenty thousand students, faculty, staff, and community members each month. The Assistant Director of Recreation and Wellness at Gannon University supports oversight of the organization, management, administration, and supervision of all aspects of the Gannon University Recreation and Wellness Center related to fitness programming and building operations. The Assistant Director relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish ambitious departmental goals that support the University’s Mission and service standards. The Assistant Director is expected to perform a variety of tasks as well as lead and direct the work of others. A strong work ethic, exceptional communication skills, and previous experience in collegiate recreation and wellness are essential. Required qualifications include Requires a Master’s degree in recreation, exercise science, public health, health promotions, business, or related field with at least 2 years of experience in the fitness management field in a University setting. Must be familiar with student development theory to support the student-led administrative model. Must be Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certified, or willing to obtain certification within 6 months of start date.
