Description: Campus Recreation Services at Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness to provide essential services to the Towson University campus community through the development, delivery, and management of comprehensive fitness and wellness programs offered within the Department of Campus Recreation Services. This position reports to the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations and is required to work a varied schedule including early mornings, late nights, and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities: This position will coordinate all fitness & wellness activities for the department and assist with the overall management of the facility. Specific emphasis dedicated to the design and implementation of a comprehensive group fitness program including the development and oversight of an instructor training program, class schedule, and workshops. The position will also be responsible for the development of a fitness education program (personal training, non-credit instruction, fitness assessments, wellness education workshops, incentive programs, special events etc.). Directly responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating all student and temporary employees required for the execution of all fitness & wellness activities. Oversight and management of all fitness operations and equipment including but not limited to; maintenance and repair of equipment and recommending purchases as needed; maintaining oversight of the financial processes and fiscal accountability of fitness and wellness operations including budget management and resource allocations. Other duties include evaluating University community fitness/wellness related needs and interests; assisting in the overall management of the department, specifically in the areas of customer service, policy enforcement, event management, and promotional efforts; and pursuit of continuous professional development through participation in an accredited associations such as NIRSA or other fitness and wellness organizations

Requirements: Requirements: Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Recreation, Fitness Management, Kinesiology, Health Education or a related field, and one year of experience progressively working in a fitness center or recreational setting with direct supervision of fitness employees and group fitness instructors. Two years of graduate assistantship program experience will be considered. The selected candidate must have experience in instructing and evaluating several formats of group fitness classes as well as ACSM, AFAA, or ACE group fitness certification. A Masters degree and experience working in higher education are preferred. Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
